Eric Tsai is Co-Founder and CEO of Mivium where he leads the overall strategic vision and oversees the entire business. Experienced in building global brands while operating global supply chain, he previously pioneered numerous hyper growth business innovation for multiple startups to Fortune 100 companies. More recently he served as the Vice President of Marketing & Business Development for Joybird, a direct-to-consumer brand he helped build from $10M to $200M+ and was later acquired by La-Z-Boy Corporation. During his tenure with the company, he amassed $790M in total revenue for the business. Eric’s work has been featured by Google, Meta, Pinterest as well as in publications such as VentureBeat, Forbes, CMO.com, Entrepreneur, and Internet Retailing.
Ginetto Addiego, PhD
COO
Dr. Addiego is an expert in supply chain resiliency who has led entire organizations as head of operations for some of the world’s most successful semiconductor companies, he now leads Mivium’s execution framework. Previously he was SVP and Head of Corporate Operations at Applied Materials, the world’s largest supplier of semiconductor equipment. Dr. Addiego was also COO and President Ultra Clean Technology to develop and supply critical subsystems, components, parts, and services for the semiconductor industry while holding world-wide responsibility for all performance aspects of the company (P&L) including eight manufacturing facilities across US and Asia. Prior to being acquired by Lam Research, he also led global operations for Novellus, a key supplier of equipment, services, and software to enable the manufacturing of semiconductor chips.
Chandra Deshpandey, PhD
CTO
Dr. Deshpandey leads Mivium’s technology execution and brings with him 40+ years of experience and knowledge building world-class innovative new products in a complex environment from concept to production within budget and on time. Recognized as an expert in semiconductor processes and materials science, Dr. Deshpandey has extensive experience in deposition (PVD, CVD, ALD, ETCH) systems, ceramics, coatings, thin-films, tools, lasers, and semiconductor device technologies. He has started and exited two companies: Angstrom systems Inc., with funding from Intel capital and KLA Tencor to develop an atomic layer deposition (ALD) process and system; and RF Arrays to design and manufacture microwave front-end chips and wireless communication and control systems. Dr. Deshpandey also worked as professor at the Department of Materials Science, UCLA.
Jim Qiu
Co-Founder & Chairman of the Board
As Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board, Jim guides Mivium's technical vision and IP strategy, with over 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He spent over a decade developing and prototyping the foundational science that the company is built on. He holds several patents and is one of the world's leading experts in the R&D and production of 3rd gen semiconductor materials using solvent-less physical methods for preparing gallium nitride and other multi-metal compound materials. Previously, Jim led factory automation engineering at ILS, delivering wafer processing systems for clients including Intel and TriQuint, and developed automation systems at Applied Materials and etch systems at Lam Research.
Niranjan Krishnappa, PhD
Staff Scientist
Dr. Niranjan Krishnappa is Staff Scientist at Mivium, where he contributes to gallium nitride materials research through process development, materials characterization, and experimental execution. He brings 5+ years of experience in thin-film deposition, advanced coatings, and production-intent process optimization, with technical expertise across PVD and analytical methods including SEM, XRD, XPS, and TEM. Prior to joining Mivium, he held research roles at the Indian Institute of Science and National Aerospace Laboratories, where he worked on advanced coating technologies, technology transfer, and industry-focused materials programs. Dr. Krishnappa holds a PhD in Materials Science and has authored 13 journal publications and a book chapter.
Rick Qiu
Co-Founder & General Manager of Powder
As Co-Founder and General Manager of Powder, Rick leads Mivium's powder production operations, scaling output from R&D toward manufacturable, semiconductor-grade quality. He works at the intersection of materials science and semiconductor manufacturing, translating deep technical R&D into real applications for power electronics and RF. Earlier in his career, Rick contributed to product launch and go-to-market efforts for carrier-grade cloud switching, solid state storage, RF and LTE base stations, and enterprise networking at Huawei Technologies, and later led product launch teams at McAfee and Malwarebytes, and founded Mearview, an AR startup combining computer vision and machine learning.
